AC Milan prepared to pay €20 million to sign Hakim Ziyech

Hakim Ziyech has been linked with a move away from Chelsea, with AC Milan prepared to offer €20 million to sign him.

According to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport, Hakim Ziyech could soon leave Chelsea. AC Milan are keen on signing the 29-year-old Moroccan playmaker when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Ziyech has had a difficult time at Stamford Bridge, and he has barely played this season. The former Ajax playmaker needs to leave Chelsea in order to resurrect his career, and a move to Serie A could be ideal for him.

The 29-year-old midfielder has started just twice this season, once in the Premier League and once in the League Cup. A player of his ability deserves to play more often and he is unlikely to get that opportunity at Chelsea.

Graham Potter clearly does not rate Ziyech enough to give him a regular run in the side. The report from Gazzetta dello Sport adds that Milan are looking to provide the player with an exit route, and they are willing to part with a sum of around €20 million for the Chelsea misfit.

It will be interesting to see if Chelsea are willing to sell the player midway through the season. Despite the fact that he is not a key player for them, the Blues are lacking in attacking depth and Potter might not be open to the idea of weakening his squad.

The west Londoners might look to bring someone in before letting Ziyech leave. They are reportedly keen on signing Rafael Leao. Meanwhile, Ziyech was a top-class player at Ajax and a move to Milan would be ideal for him. The lower intensity of Italian football will suit him and he could be a key player for the Rossoneri.

The Moroccan playmaker is exceptional with his passing in the final third. The Chelsea misfit’s long balls and set pieces will add a new dimension to the Milan attack. The likes of Olivier Giroud and Rafael Leao could benefit immensely from Ziyech’s service in the final third.
