Manchester United preparing offer to sign Joao Felix

Manchester United are reportedly planning the imminent arrival of Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix in January.

As per Cadena SER, Manchester United are ready to bet big on Joao Felix and could make him their record signing this winter. The 23-year-old Portuguese international has struggled for form in Spain, but the Manchester United management believes he could turn their fortunes around.

The absence of a prolific attacker has hurt Manchester United on multiple occasions, and Erik ten Hag has been on the search for a perfect goalscorer. The Red Devils did arrive with a substantial offer for the Portuguese attacker. But Atletico Madrid were not interested in parting ways with Felix back in the summer.

However, the Portuguese international has had a fallout with Diego Simeone, and the manager has not really used him this term. The 23-year-old has grown frustrated with his limited game time, and Atletico Madrid are now believed to be planning his departure.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is looking bleak with each passing day amid interest from Sporting CP. And the 37-year-old could be on the verge of ending his association with Manchester United in January. The Red Devils won’t block his departure and won’t be demanding any fee if the situation remains tight.

Felix could be the right candidate to replace his compatriot. And although the player has not had a breakthrough moment in the last few seasons, he does have the capability to thrive in the Premier League. And the Red Devils are reportedly preparing an offer to sign the 23-year-old Portuguese international.

Manchester United would ideally like someone fitting the profile of a budding youngster who could be brought in for a long-term prospect, and Felix fits the bill perfectly. The Red Devils have looked at fixing the void on a temporary basis. But should they manage to splash the money once again, the 23-year-old could be a no-brainer signing.

Predominantly a second striker, Felix can be deployed anywhere across the front three. His arrival would provide flexibility to ten Hag, as Manchester United are still lacking that fear factor in the opponent attacking third.

Atletico Madrid will be looking to cough up a big portion of what they paid to Benfica. But Felix’s declining stock would not guarantee them a massive fee. And if they wait till the summer, his value will erode further.
