Arsenal and Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing 19-year-old Dutch whizkid Xavi Simons from PSV Eindhoven.
According to a report from Fichajes, Arsenal and Liverpool are keen on signing Xavi Simons at the end of the season. And it will be interesting to see where the 19-year-old Dutch midfielder ends up after impressing for PSV Eindhoven.
The former Paris Saint-Germain whizkid has done quite well since his move to PSV and he has been a key starter for them this season. The midfielder has impressed with his playmaking abilities, chipping in with ten goals across all competitions as well.
Simons is widely regarded as a prodigious talent who has the attributes to develop into a world-class player. And he could be a quality long-term acquisition for both Arsenal and Liverpool.
The report from Fichajes adds that Mikel Arteta is impressed with the player’s abilities. And the Arsenal boss believes that the 19-year-old Dutch whizkid would be an ideal fit for the playmaking role in the Arsenal side. However, Arteta already has players like Martin Odegaard and Emile Smith Rowe at his disposal. It will be interesting to see how they accommodate Simons if the move goes through.
On the other hand, Liverpool desperately need reinforcements, especially with the number of injuries they have had. Furthermore, senior players like Jordan Henderson and James Milner have regressed in recent seasons and need replacing. The Reds have thus shown interest in several midfielders, including Bruno Guimaraes. And Simons is also a viable target.
The Dutch whizkid can operate as an attacking midfielder as well as a central midfielder. Jurgen Klopp has a proven track record of improving young players and could help the 19-year-old develop into a top-class player and fulfil his tremendous potential.
