La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Son Heung-min from Premier League heavyweights Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.

According to a report by German outlet Sport1, Son Heung-min is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in 2023. The 30-year-old forward is open to leaving Tottenham Hotspur and Premier League altogether to embark on a new adventure next year.

Son Heung-min has established himself as one of the best attackers in the Premier League since joining Tottenham Hotspur from Bayer Leverkusen in August 2015. The South Korean international has been a pivotal figure for the north Londoners over the last seven years. And he reached his peak last season as he clinched the Golden Boot following a splendid campaign.

But the 30-year-old has started the 2022/23 season slowly, managing only five goals and two assists in 16 appearances thus far. That is a sub-par tally by Son, who has set high standards at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Nonetheless, Son remains highly rated in Europe, with Real Madrid keen on signing him.

Real Madrid will likely make a few big signings in 2023, particularly in the summer transfer window. The attacking unit might be the subject of interest from Los Blancos, with Marco Asensio in the final year of his contract and Eden Hazard blowing hot and cold. So Son has emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid.

While recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid might offer Asensio a new contract, Hazard’s poor form still leaves them in a spot of bother. And Son might be an approachable target, despite Daniel Levy’s infamous negotiation tactics. That is because the report claims the 30-year-old is open to embarking on a new adventure next year.

Real Madrid will invariably have to engage in a battle with Levy, with Son’s contract having two and a half years to expire. In addition, the reigning La Liga champions will face stiff competition from Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain for the South Korean forward.

So Los Blancos will have to overcome several stumbling blocks to end Son’s Premier League adventure. It will be interesting to see if the 30-year-old forward ends his stint with Tottenham next year and if Real Madrid will be his next destination.
