Manchester United battle Liverpool for Jhon Duran

Manchester United are reportedly keen on signing Jhon Duran from Chicago Fire, but they face competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool.

According to a report from The Sun, Manchester United are keen on signing Jhon Duran. But they will have to fend off competition from arch-rivals Liverpool who are also keeping tabs on the 18-year-old Colombian winger .

Jhon Duran has established himself as a key player for Chicago Fire, scoring eight goals and picking up five assists in 2022. His performances have caught the attention of top European clubs. And the player’s representatives have already held talks with interested clubs in England and Spain.

The 18-year-old could cost around £10 million this summer. And the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool should be able to afford Duran if they are truly keen on securing his services.

The youngster is rated highly in Major League Soccer, and he has the potential to develop into a quality player. It will be interesting to see where he ends up.

The 18-year-old needs regular game time in order to continue his development and improve as a player. At Liverpool, he will have to compete with compatriot Luiz Diaz, who is the automatic starter in the left-wing position.

Meanwhile, at Manchester United, Erik ten Hag has the likes of Antony and Jadon Sancho at his disposal to reprise the wide-attacking roles. In addition, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford can also operate as wingers. At the same time, Manchester United also want to sign Cody Gakpo.

It seems that neither Manchester United nor Liverpool will be able to guarantee Duran regular first-team action. And it will be interesting to see if the player still decides to join either club. But the presence of Diaz could well tip the scales in Liverpool’s favour.

There is no doubt that the youngster has the potential to develop into a quality Premier League attacker. And he could prove to be a wise long-term investment for both clubs.
