Manchester City are reportedly confident of signing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, a target for Manchester United and Liverpool.
According to a report by The Sun, Jude Bellingham could be available for £83 million, and Manchester City could be ready to seize this opportunity. Borussia Dortmund would be ready to agree to a cut-price deal if interested parties, including Liverpool and Manchester United, pay the entire money upfront.
The teenage sensation has also been on the radar of Liverpool and Manchester United, but the Manchester City hierarchy feels they are very well placed to sign the 19-year-old next summer.
Liverpool have a long-standing interest in the player, who has emerged as the next big thing in world football. Jurgen Klopp will try to snatch the player from Manchester City’s grasps, but the German manager knows Liverpool have very little chance if the reigning English champions come all guns blazing for his signature.
Manchester United, too, have registered their interest in the player, but the Red Devils need to improve their performances this season to stand any chance of beating Liverpool and Manchester City to Bellingham’s signature.
It was reported Dortmund would open the negotiations for a hefty fee of £130 million, but their renewed stance could ignite a bidding war among the top teams.
Manchester City have already signed Manuel Akanji and Erling Haaland from Dortmund this year, and another player could soon follow suit. Bellingham’s ability to shuttle between defence and attack has been a very rare quality, and he is pretty stubbornly disciplined when it comes to finding the right man with his visionary passing.
The English midfielder loves to roam ahead with his forward runs and even netted for Dortmund in their defeat to Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League group stage earlier this month.
Manchester City could use Haaland to convince Bellingham as the Norwegian striker has had a superb start to his life on English soil since his arrival this summer. Ilkay Gundogan has entered the final year of his deal, while Bernardo Silva had been linked with Barcelona throughout the summer.
So there could be a significant gap to fill, and Manchester City feel Bellingham is the perfect player to plug the gap. Kevin De Bruyne has been the chief architect of Manchester City’s recent success, and Pep Guardiola wants to mould Bellingham as the Belgian’s potential replacement. But with Liverpool and Manchester United in the hunt as well, in addition to Real Madrid, the race to sign Bellingham will be intriguing.
