Manchester United closing in on Casemiro

Casemiro is reportedly inching closer to joining Manchester United from Real Madrid in a blockbuster £60 million move this summer.

According to a report by Daily Telegraph, Casemiro is closing in on joining Manchester United before the summer transfer window shuts down. The Red Devils hope to land the Real Madrid midfielder in a deal worth around £60 million before focusing on attacking reinforcements.

Casemiro has been a pivotal figure for Real Madrid for the better part of the last eight years. The Brazilian international’s central midfield partnership with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos has been the building block of Los Blancos’ success during this period, including winning multiple UEFA Champions League titles.

The 30-year-old has turned out over 300 times thus far for Real Madrid while regularly chipping in with crucial goals and assists. But Casemiro’s stint with Real Madrid might end in the ongoing transfer window, with Manchester United pushing hard to secure his services in the coming days.

Manchester United initially wanted to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, with Erik ten Hag prioritising the Dutch midfielder’s acquisition this summer. But de Jong showed no inclination toward moving to Old Trafford, and Manchester United subsequently decided to pursue Adrien Rabiot.

However, the move for Rabiot is dead in the water due to the French midfielder’s excessive wage demands, forcing Manchester United to identify another alternative. The Red Devils have thus set their sights on Casemiro, with the Real Madrid midfielder quickly becoming a top target for ten Hag.

Recent reports claimed that Manchester United wasted no time in submitting an enquiry to Real Madrid and make an offer to Casemiro. And the 30-year-old has been considering Manchester United’s proposal, with Daily Telegraph now claiming the Premier League heavyweights might sign him from Real Madrid in a deal worth £60 million.

The acquisition will be nothing short of a coup for Manchester United, even though the Brazilian international is now in his thirties. With the Real Madrid midfielder still very much at his peak, the Red Devils can enjoy a few years of prime performance from him if he completes his £60 million move to Old Trafford, with the English giants hoping to secure his services in a few days.
