Real Madrid considering 2023 move for Antony

La Liga champions Real Madrid are reportedly considering signing Manchester United target Antony from Ajax in the 2023 summer transfer window.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Antony is the subject of interest from Real Madrid over a possible move in the 2023 summer transfer window. The Brazilian international is also a target for Manchester United, who had attempted to sign him in the ongoing window.

Antony joined Ajax from Sao Paulo in July 2020 and has gone from strength to strength since then. The 22-year-old arrived in Amsterdam to fill the void left by the departure of Hakim Ziyech, and he has done so with aplomb, establishing himself as a pivotal figure for the Dutch champions in the last couple of seasons.

The Brazilian international has started the 2022/23 campaign strongly, amassing two goals and two assists in three appearances across all competitions. Antony’s exploits have not gone unnoticed either, with some of the most high-profile clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid and Manchester United, setting their sights on him.

Antony has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time, considering Juni Calafat has expertise in identifying the most promising young Brazilian prospects. And Calafat has recommended the Brazilian attacker’s name to Real Madrid, with Los Blancos considering signing him in the 2023 summer transfer window.

Real Madrid might have to delve into the market for a replacement for Marco Asensio next summer. The Spanish international has entered the final year of his contract and might not depart from the Santiago Bernabeu this summer. But the reigning La Liga champions might have to compete with Manchester United in the race to sign the 22-year-old from Ajax.

Anthony has been a top target for Manchester United this summer, with the Red Devils also tabling an offer to secure his services. But Ajax’s excessive demands have forced Manchester United to rule out signing Antony this summer. However, the youngster remains on the Premier League club’s radar, and a 2023 move could be on the cards.
