Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes has reportedly offered Chelsea the opportunity to sign Manchester United superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
According to a report from Daily Telegraph, Chelsea have been offered the opportunity to sign Cristiano Ronaldo. The possibility of capturing the Manchester United forward was discussed in a meeting between his agent Jorge Mendes and Chelsea’s new owner Todd Boehly.
The report comes in the midst of speculation over Ronaldo’s future. Many sources suggest the Manchester United forward is unsettled at Old Trafford and wants to leave the club in the summer transfer window. He was notably linked with a move to Bayern Munich recently, though the Bavarians have denied the transfer rumour.
Having recently roped in Sadio Mane from Liverpool, Bayern are not in a position to sign another footballing superstar. It could significantly alter the club’s financial structure, even though the German Rekordmeister did entertain the possibility of signing Ronaldo for a time.
Bayern’s exit from the equation opens up the opportunity for Chelsea to snap up the Manchester United icon. It could prove to be a massive coup for new owners, who are actively looking to promote the club not only in the United States but to the rest of the world.
