La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid have reportedly offered Luka Jovic to fellow Madrilenian club Getafe in a loan deal for the 2022/23 season.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Luka Jovic could remain in La Liga even if he leaves Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. The Merengues have offered the struggling Serbian striker to fellow Madrilenian club Getafe in a loan deal for the 2022/23 season.
Luka Jovic has wasted three years of his career since joining Real Madrid from Eintracht Frankfurt in July 2019. While there was a lot of hype surrounding the 24-year-old following a brilliant 2018/19 campaign with Frankfurt, he has failed to reproduce such heroics at Real Madrid in the last three seasons.
Jovic has featured just 51 times for Real Madrid in the last three years while managing a paltry tally of three goals and five assists. With his career headed nowhere at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Serb needs to leave Real Madrid in the summer transfer window to get back on track. And his next destination could be another La Liga club.
While Jovic has appeared on the radars of clubs in Germany, England, and Italy, he wants to remain in La Liga in the 2022/23 season. More specifically, Jovic is eager to stay put in the Madrid area as he is well settled in the city despite barely featuring for Real Madrid.
With that in mind, the Spanish giants have offered Jovic to Getafe, who will likely enter the market for a striker in the summer transfer window. The Azulones will lose Borja Mayoral following the end of his loan stint, with the Spaniard set to return to Real Madrid this month.
In addition, Jaime Mata is well into his thirties, while Enes Unal has popped up on the radars of several clubs in Europe, including Liverpool. So Jovic is a viable target for Getafe, with the Madrilenian club possibly an ideal destination for the Serb due to their playing style.
Real Madrid had also thought about using Jovic as a makeweight to sign Rafael Leao, but that prospect seems unlikely. And if the 24-year-old is intent on remaining in the Madrid area, a loan move to Getafe could be on the cards for Jovic.
