Real Madrid plotting 2023 Bosman move for Fabian Ruiz

La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid are reportedly weighing up signing Fabian Ruiz in a Bosman move in 2023.

According to a report by Italian outlet Sportmediaset, Fabian Ruiz could end up staying put at Napoli beyond the summer transfer window. But with the 26-year-old Spanish international unlikely to sign a new deal with the Partenopei, Real Madrid will look to sign him in a Bosman move in 2023.

Fabian Ruiz has come leaps and bounds since joining Napoli from Real Betis in July 2018. The Spaniard has gone from being a promising young midfielder to one of the best players in Serie A while establishing a foothold in his national side.

To date, the 26-year-old has turned out 165 times for Napoli, chipping in with 22 goals and 15 assists along the way. But Ruiz’s contract will run out next year, with the Spanish international unwilling to sign a new deal with the Partenopei. Such a situation has captured the attention of Real Madrid.

Recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid could look to include a player as part of the deal to land Ruiz this year. But the Spanish giants are happy to wait another year before securing the services of the player in a Bosman deal in 2023.

Real Madrid’s stance is not too surprising, considering Luka Modric is on the verge of signing a one-year contract extension. With the Real Madrid midfield unit well stocked for the 2022/23 season, investing in a midfielder might not be a wise decision on Real Madrid’s part, especially if Dani Ceballos ends up staying put at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ruiz, too, is determined to honour his contract and give Napoli the final year of his deal before departing as a free agent. While Real Madrid will run the risk of other clubs joining the race to sign the 26-year-old Spanish international in a Bosman move, the fact that the player wants to join them keeps Los Blancos in good stead.

Modric will likely start getting phased out after next season, meaning Ruiz will arrive at the Santiago Bernabeu ready to take over from the Croat. And with Carlo Ancelotti keen on reuniting with his former Napoli charge, a transfer to Real Madrid could see the light of day for the Spanish international.
