La Liga heavyweights Barcelona are reportedly weighing up a summer move for versatile Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane.
According to reputed Spanish journalist Toni Juanmarti, as relayed by Reshad Rahman, Sadio Mane is the subject of interest from Barcelona over a possible move in the summer transfer window. The Liverpool forward’s contract situation has made him an attractive target for the Blaugrana.
Sadio Mane has taken his career to new heights since joining Liverpool from Southampton in July 2016. The Senegalese international was already a highly-rated forward during his days with the Saints, but he has transformed into a world-class attacker in the last six years.
To date, the 30-year-old has turned out 265 times for Liverpool, chipping in with 118 goals and 47 assists in the process. But the Reds are in a spot of bother over Mane’s long-term future, as his deal stands to run out next year amid slow developments on the renewal front. Such a situation has captured the attention of Barcelona.
Barcelona will likely bring in at least one attacking reinforcement in the summer transfer window amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Ousmane Dembele. While the Frenchman is open to signing a new contract with Barcelona, the two parties are yet to reach an agreement over the terms of a renewal.
In addition, the Blaugrana will unlikely re-sign Adama Traore permanently once his loan deal expires, thereby opening up a wide-attacking slot. To that end, several forwards, including Raphinha, have been linked with Barcelona, with the Brazilian international keen on moving to Camp Nou.
But Mane is a more versatile option than Raphinha, considering the Liverpool forward can play across the attacking line. That could also be why Gabriel Jesus has emerged as a possible candidate to bolster the offensive unit at FC Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Both Jesus and Mane will see their contracts, with Manchester City and Liverpool, respectively, run out next year. But Liverpool should have something to say about Mane’s contract situation, meaning Barcelona will need to wait for a while before launching the offensive for the 30-year-old versatile attacker.
