Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger is reportedly set to earn €9 million per year following his move to Real Madrid this summer.
A recent report from MARCA has offered detailed insights into Real Madrid’s pursuit of Antonio Rudiger. The Chelsea centre-back is set to leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer, with Real Madrid emerging as the likely destination. In fact, his transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu is all but complete, with the defender recently agreeing to penning a four-year deal with Los Blancos.
Rudiger is soon set to undergo his Real Madrid medical before the deal can be officiated by both parties. The report from MARCA has now offered details on the exact terms of the contract that the Chelsea defender will put pen to upon completing the Bosman move.
With his current contract at Chelsea expiring at the end of the season, Rudiger is set to earn an €8 million signing bonus. As for the four-year contract, he will be awarded €9 million per season, totalling up to €36 million in four years.
Combining the signing fees and salary, coupled with the €15 million agent commissions, the entire operation is set to cost Real Madrid around €59 million. The Spanish giants believe it is nothing short of a bargain for a player who has shown immense quality at Chelsea and has offers vast experience and leadership at the back.
From a sporting perspective, Rudiger will likely become the face of the Real Madrid defence alongside Eder Militao, with David Alaba expected to be employed as a utility man. The presence of three such quality defenders could certainly strengthen the Real Madrid setup as they look to continue their merry ways under Carlo Ancelotti.
As for Chelsea, they are expected to lose one more defender on a free transfer in the form of Andreas Christensen. The Dane is more than likely to join FC Barcelona in the new season, having already reached a verbal agreement with the Catalans.
