Jurgen Klopp extended his stay at Liverpool by signing a new deal with the club, with assistants Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz also penning new terms.
Liverpool have made an official statement to confirm that Jurgen Klopp has signed a new long-term contract to extend his stay at Anfield. Klopp’s assistants Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz have also penned new terms, with the trio remaining at the Merseyside outfit for the foreseeable future.
Jurgen Klopp has overseen Liverpool’s transformation from a “has been” giant of English football to one of the most formidable forces in Europe. The Reds initially made gradual progress following the German tactician’s appointment as Brendan Rodgers’s replacement in October 2015. But the run to the UEFA Champions League final in 2018 was the catalyst in Liverpool’s turnaround.
Liverpool went one step ahead by winning the Champions League crown in 2019 before clinching the elusive Premier League title in 2020, ending their 30-year wait to lift the top-flight trophy. The Merseyside giants are enjoying their best season under Klopp in 2021/22, going all the way in the Carabao Cup while remaining alive in every other competition.
The Reds are on the verge of reaching another Champions League final while also being set to contest for the FA Cup honour next month. At the same time, Liverpool and Manchester City are going toe-to-toe in one of the most memorable Premier League title duels of all time. So it is hardly surprising that the English heavyweights have wanted to tie Klopp down to a new contract.

The talks have progressed quickly, with Liverpool securing Klopp’s long-term future. Upon signing his new contract, which reportedly runs until 2026, the Liverpool boss expressed his delight, saying, “There are so many words I could use to describe how I am feeling about this news…delighted, humbled, blessed, privileged and excited would be a start.”
“There is just so much to love about this place. I knew that before I came here, I got to know it even better after I arrived and now I know it more than ever before. Like any healthy relationship, it always has to be a two-way street; you have to be right for each other. The feeling we were absolutely right for each other is what brought me here in the first place and it’s why I’ve extended previously.”
“This one is different because of the length of time we have been together. I had to ask myself the question: Is it right for Liverpool that I stay longer? Along with my two assistant managers, Pep Lijnders and Pete Krawietz, we came to the conclusion it was a ‘Yes!'”
Along with Klopp, assistants Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz have also extended their contracts by signing new terms with Liverpool. The news will come as a blow for Klopp’s suitors, with Real Madrid among the clubs that showed the eagerness to sign the Liverpool boss, who will be staying put at Anfield for the foreseeable future.
