AC Milan, Inter Milan battle for Chelsea forward Timo Werner

AC Milan and Inter Milan are reportedly vying for Timo Werner’s signature, with the German forward keen to leave Chelsea in the next window.

According to Calciomercato, Timo Werner is a strong target for AC Milan and Inter Milan, with the two Serie A giants eyeing a top forward to offer them different options. The German international is keen to leave Chelsea after growing frustrated in an undervalued role.

Thomas Tuchel has been facing a big dilemma this season regarding his attacking options. Fortunately for him, Kai Havertz has hit top form in recent weeks, scoring regularly and keeping Chelsea in the third spot on the table.

The German manager had certainly planned a different position for Havertz this season had his other star forwards performed well. Timo Werner and record signing Romelu Lukaku have been terrible all term, as their lack of goals ousted Chelsea from the Premier League title race between December and January.

Lukaku is already eyeing the exit door, with former club Inter Milan seeking a loan move for the Belgian. Meanwhile, after thoroughly struggling for form and game time this season, Werner has failed to find his feet in English football.

Like Lukaku, Werner is also seeking to exit Chelsea in the summer, with plenty of interested clubs vying for his signature. A potential move back to the Bundesliga has been mentioned repeatedly, while Barcelona are also interested in completing a deal at the end of the season.

Serie A giants AC Milan and Inter Milan have joined the chase for the disgruntled Chelsea forward as both clubs eye a different style of attacker for next season. The Serie A title challengers want someone with technical ability to complement their current strikers.

Inter may be keen if Lautaro Martinez leaves the club, with Premier League clubs circling the Argentine. Manager Simone Inzaghi feels Werner will be able to complement Edin Dzeko and may be ready to sign him permanently amid the sanctions that have hampered Chelsea lately.

Meanwhile, AC Milan are keen on refreshing their striker options as two veterans currently lead them, those being Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olivier Giroud. Stefano Pioli wants a player with a slightly younger age profile and believes Werner could do the job.

Werner’s current value reportedly stands at €40 million, although the Italian giants may look to lower the price tag. The German forward will certainly be a good option for either Serie A club, considering he needs a change of scenario away from Chelsea.
