Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are vying for Alexander Isak’s signature and might be willing to pay his €90 million release clause in the summer.
According to Fichajes, Alexander Isak remains a firm target for some of the Premier League’s big clubs, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Arsenal among those interested. The trio is reportedly ready to pay his €90 million release clause in the summer to prise him away from Real Sociedad.
Alexander Isak has tremendous interest from clubs across the continent. The lanky Swedish striker may not be the most prolific forward going around, but his all-around game brings others into the play, which is considered a valued characteristic in the modern game.
Isak is revered for his physical abilities, speed and capacity to carry the ball into dangerous areas. These features are endearing to many of the current top clubs in England, who may look to sign the striker in the summer window, with some failing to get it done in January.
Arsenal reportedly failed with a €70 million offer for Isak in January as they made a last-ditch attempt to sign a striker after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s quick departure to Barcelona. Real Sociedad did not want to let the Swede go in the middle of the season and demanded the Gunners pay up his release clause if they wanted him.
While the failure to sign a new striker has not affected Arsenal, the Gunners are expected to spend big on a forward in the summer. They are linked with a host of names, including Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Darwin Nunez and Victor Osimhen, although the availability of Isak could open a new door.
Meanwhile, they have competition from Liverpool, who were already believed to have submitted a €70 million offer for Isak. But they may have to shell out more to convince Real Sociedad to part ways with the Swedish international. The La Liga club are reluctant to accept any bid below his release clause, which the Reds could end up paying to bolster their frontline amid doubts over Mohamed Salah’s future.
Manchester United are also interested in Isak, as the club may have to look at replacements for Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani. Ronaldo may leave the club if they do not qualify for the Champions League, while Cavani is out of contract in the summer. The Old Trafford side can pay the €90 million release clause, making them a solid contender for Isak.
Isak has plenty of competition, and he could certainly move away from Real Sociedad in the summer. It remains to be seen where he ends up as Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester United represent brilliant destinations to pursue a career for the young forward.
