Ligue 1 giants AS Monaco have reportedly knocked back Real Madrid’s offer for Aurelien Tchouameni and are demanding €50 million to sell him.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid looked to offer Luka Jovic as part of the deal to sign Aurelien Tchouameni in the summer transfer window. But AS Monaco will not accept the bid, demanding €50 million to offload the French international.
Aurelien Tchouameni has come leaps and bounds since joining AS Monaco from Bordeaux in January 2020. After slowly establishing a foothold in the first-team setup at Stade Louis II, the 22-year-old has become a pivotal figure for the principality club.
Widely regarded as one of the best midfielders in Ligue 1 now, Tchouameni has turned out 43 times across all competitions for Monaco this season. At the same time, the player has also become a full-fledged French international, while his exploits have captured the attention of some of the biggest clubs in Europe, including Real Madrid.
As per widespread reports, Tchouameni is a priority target for Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window. That is because there is no viable backup for Casemiro in the first-team setup at the Santiago Bernabeu, which calls for the addition of a holding midfielder.
In addition, with the Brazilian international blowing hot and cold this season, Tchouameni could come in and become the first-choice defensive midfielder quickly. And the French international is reportedly keen on joining Real Madrid, which should boost Los Blancos’ prospects of signing him.
According to Defensa Central, Real Madrid tabled a player-plus-cash bid to sign Tchouameni, offering Luka Jovic and €30 million to AS Monaco. But the Ligue 1 giants have no intention of accepting the offer and will demand €50 million to part with the 22-year-old.
With several other clubs also lining up to secure the services of the young midfielder, Real Madrid will need to step up to win the race to sign him in the summer transfer window. But it will be interesting to see if the Merengues are prepared to place a €50 million bid to land the French international ahead of the 2022/23 season.
