Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich are reportedly keen on signing Marco Asensio from Real Madrid in the summer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are among the clubs showing interest in Marco Asensio ahead of the summer transfer window. The Bundesliga giants are closely monitoring his situation at Real Madrid, with Juventus also keen on signing him.
Marco Asensio has rediscovered his best form after struggling following his return from a long-term knee injury in 2020. After a difficult 2020/21 season, the 26-year-old made a slow start to the ongoing campaign and even lost his spot in the Spanish national side.
But Asensio has enjoyed an upturn in form and fortunes in the last few months, becoming a key figure for Real Madrid. The Spaniard has a solid record of nine goals and one assist in 29 outings this term. But the Merengues are in a spot of bother over the player’s long-term future, as he has entered the final 18 months of his contract, with Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund eager to sign him.
The interest from Bayern Munich stems from the uncertainties surrounding the future of Serge Gnabry, coincidentally a target for Real Madrid. Like Asensio, Gnabry is approaching the end of his current contract and could soon depart the Allianz Arena if he cannot reach an agreement over a renewal.
But the Bundesliga champions are not alone in pursuit of Asensio, with Borussia Dortmund also hot on his trail. The Black and Yellows have a well-stocked attacking unit, making their interest in the Real Madrid forward somewhat surprising. But in his current form, Asensio could be a top-notch addition to the Dortmund squad.
In addition to the two Bundesliga giants, Serie A heavyweights Juventus are also pursuing a move for Asensio, with recent reports claiming they submitted an enquiry to Real Madrid. But snapping up the Spanish international might not be a straightforward objective for any of his prospective suitors.
Asensio has already rejected offers from Premier League clubs as he wants to continue his stint with Real Madrid, despite the rumours surrounding Kylian Mbappe. While the report claims that there is a hold-up in negotiations, Real Madrid will be discussing a renewal with the 26-year-old for the foreseeable future, and it would not be surprising to see him remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
