Leeds United are reportedly interested in signing Chelsea utility man Kenedy and have made an enquiry for the Brazilian star.
According to Daily Telegraph’s Mike McGrath, Leeds United have enquired about the possibility of signing Chelsea winger Kenedy before the January transfer window slams shut.
Kenedy joined Chelsea from Fluminense back in 2015 but has featured just 27 times for the west Londoners, with most of his time spent away on loan spells. The Brazilian has had stints at Watford, Newcastle United, Getafe and Granada previously, while he signed for Flamengo in the summer last year.
However, the Blues recalled the 25-year-old earlier this month due to their lack of options in the wing-back positions after the injuries to Ben Chilwell and Reece James. Kenedy is adept at playing anywhere on the left flank. He has also been used as a right-sided wing-back occasionally during his career.
This versatility seems to appeal to Leeds United, who are now interested in making a move for Kenedy. The Whites have had a quiet transfer window so far and are looking to reinforce their options on the transfer deadline day as they look to steer clear of the relegation battle.
Daniel James has not made the desired impact since arriving in the summer, leaving Raphinha and Jack Harrison to do the heavy lifting from the flanks. So, it makes sense for Marcelo Bielsa to look in the market for another wide player, although Leeds would be better served by bringing in a player to cover for Patrick Bamford in the centre-forward slot.
Nevertheless, Kenedy has emerged as an option for the Whites, who have enquired about the availability of the 25-year-old Brazilian. However, Mike McGrath also mentions that not much progress has been made, casting doubts on the chances of a move happening on the transfer deadline day.
Leeds are also looking at Liverpool forward Takumi Minamino as an option, although the Reds are believed to have turned down their approach for the Japanese international. With not much time left in the January transfer window, it remains to be seen who the Yorkshire-based outfit end up signing in the coming hours.
