Juventus reportedly want to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek on loan as a replacement for Arthur Melo, who could be joining Arsenal soon.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, a transfer triangle involving Juventus, Chelsea and Arsenal is forming. The report suggests the Serie A giants want to sign Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek as a replacement for Arthur Melo, who is heavily linked with Arsenal over a loan move.
Ruben Loftus-Cheek was considered a prodigious talent when he broke into the Chelsea first-team squad. However, the English midfielder has failed to realise his potential to the fullest and has instead ended up spending much of his career on loan moves at other clubs.
However, this season, he seems to have found some footing at Chelsea under Thomas Tuchel, who has played him regularly. While he is still a long way from being a bonafide starter, his contributions have been impressive enough for the German manager to consider him regularly.
The player would certainly want to play a starring role each week, which is quite difficult at Chelsea considering the presence of NGolo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic, who are the preferred midfield options for Tuchel. It could prompt him to think about considering an offer from somewhere else to establish himself.
Juventus are currently linked with a loan move for Loftus-Cheek as they seek a replacement for their wantaway midfielder Arthur Melo. The Serie A giants are keen on signing the English midfielder as they seek a different dimension from the middle of the park.
Arthur is linked with Arsenal over a loan move, with the Brazilian an unpopular option for Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus. He has endured a difficult time in Turin since leaving Barcelona and wants to resurrect his career, and a move away from the Allianz Stadium could be a sensible solution.
However, Juventus are not prepared to let him leave without securing a replacement. They have been chasing Arsenal target Bruno Guimaraes and Lille’s Renato Sanches, but both those players would cost them plenty of money at the moment. Loftus-Cheek hence becomes a viable alternative to seek over a temporary move.
Chelsea might make a decision, which may or may not allow Loftus-Cheek to change clubs mid-season. Their approval could also rubber stamp Arthur’s move to north London and allow Juventus to keep their squad options intact.
