Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in advanced talks to sign 25-year-old AC Milan midfield powerhouse Franck Kessie.
According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are stepping up their efforts to secure the services of Franck Kessie in next summer’s transfer window on a Bosman move. However, Los Blancos will need to pay a higher sum than the one offered by PSG to land the 25-year-old AC Milan midfielder.
Franck Kessie has blossomed into a powerhouse of a midfielder since joining AC Milan from Atalanta. Initially signed on a loan deal in July 2017, the Ivory Coast international moved to San Siro permanently two years later, and he has not looked back since.
To date, the 25-year-old has made 205 appearances for AC Milan, chipping in with 35 goals and 16 assists in the process. However, Kessie looks set to leave the Rossoneri as a free agent when his contract with the club runs out next summer. Such a situation has alerted several big-name clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
The interest from Real Madrid is understandable, considering Luka Modric is in the twilight of his glittering career. In addition, Toni Kroos is approaching the final phase of his playing days, while Casemiro will turn 30 next year. So, it behoves Real Madrid to lay down a succession plan for their famed midfield trio.
To that end, Federico Valverde and Eduardo Camavinga are two pieces of the puzzle, with Kessie potentially being the final element to complete the jigsaw. However, Real Madrid will need to fend off competition from PSG in the race to sign the 25-year-old.
Recent reports have indicated that the Ligue 1 giants have submitted an offer to sign Kessie. And according to El Nacional, PSG’s offer for Kessie is significant enough to convince the Ivorian to snub Real Madrid. Les Parisiens’ eagerness to sign the AC Milan midfielder makes sense, as Idrissa Gueye and Ander Herrera are on the wrong side of 30.
With PSG already making an attractive offer, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid will respond with a more appealing contract submission. For now, both Real Madrid and PSG remain in advanced talks to sign the 25-year-old AC Milan midfield powerhouse, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up next summer.
