Chelsea are preparing a bumper £84 million offer to secure the services of Juventus forward Federico Chiesa.
According to Fichajes, Juventus are set to face a battle in their quest to keep hold of the services of Federico Chiesa. The Italian giants are currently in turmoil, and with no sign of improvements, they could soon lose their star players.
Chiesa, in particular, is facing an uncertain future at the club, and it appears Chelsea are ready to take advantage of their recent mediocrity to prise the Italian away of Turin. They are already preparing a reported bid of £84 million as they look to appease a Juventus team bracing themselves for a major overhaul.
A product of the Fiorentina youth academy, Chiesa has been one of the brightest prospects in Italian football over the past half-a-decade. The winger has made a solid impression since his move to Juventus last summer, having already notched up 58 competitive appearances.
During his one and a half year spell in Turin, the 24-year-old has been involved in 30 goals. He was also one of the major protagonists in Italy’s successful Euro 2020 campaign, making quite an impression with his commitment, work ethic and skill in the final third.
Chiesa has started the new season rather slowly, scoring just one goal in eleven appearances. However, that hasn’t deterred Chelsea from weighing up a potential move for the Italian international. It appears Thomas Tuchel is keen on shoring up his options in the final third, especially with Christian Pulisic, most recently a Barcelona target, facing an uncertain future at the club.
The likes of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech have also been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge. It has left Tuchel desperate for some reinforcements, with Chiesa being identified as an ideal option. However, it remains unlikely that Juventus will be keen on cashing on their prized asset for just £84 million, given that their existing buy option from Fiorentina is valued at €40 million.
Chiesa is not the only Juventus superstar linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, though. The Blues have also registered interest in their defensive stalwart Matthijs de Ligt. They are even reportedly in contact with the Dutchman over a potential switch to England, so it will be interesting to see which one of these two ends up with the reigning European champs next season.
