Jesse Lingard is “increasingly likely” to join West Ham United from Manchester United this summer, as per transfer expert Dean Jones.
According to transfer expert Dean Jones on the Football Terrace podcast, Jesse Lingard could still be on his way to West Ham United before the summer transfer window slams shut. The Manchester United midfielder is “increasingly likely” to call it quits at Old Trafford, as per Jones.
Jesse Lingard has been with Manchester United since 2000, having joined the Red Devils’ academy as a seven-year-old. Since then, the English midfielder has endured a topsy-turvy ride at the club, having gone through periods when he was a regular feature for Manchester United before losing his spot under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
This is when the opportunity to join West Ham United opened up, and the 28-year-old was simply brilliant for the Hammers, amassing a tally of nine goals and five assists in 16 appearances to guide the east Londoners to a top six finish. Now back at Manchester United, Lingard’s future has been the subject of intense speculation.
The rumours of an impending exit do make sense, seeing as Lingard is only likely to be a backup option for Manchester United, with Solskjaer having a stacked attacking unit at his disposal. As a result, Lingard has been linked with West Ham again over a potential permanent move, although other clubs have shown an interest in him as well.
The continued interest from West Ham is understandable despite their top class start to the season. Indeed, Michail Antonio could do with more support in the final third, even though Said Benrahma appears to be finally settling in at the London Stadium, which is where someone like Lingard comes into the picture.
However, with his valuation proving to be a stumbling block, West Ham have had to keep their options open, with Jonathan Bamba and Nikola Vlasic emerging on their radar as alternatives. But it has now emerged that Lingard could well be on his way to West Ham after all, with an exit from Manchester United “increasingly likely”.
