Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that his club are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane.
Speaking to the media, as relayed by The Guardian, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has revealed that his side are very much keen on making a swoop for Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane.
One of the best strikers in the game currently, Kane has spent his entire career at Tottenham barring a few loan spells away in the nascent stages. However, for all his individual accomplishments, the 28-year-old is yet to win a single trophy, leading to his desire to leave the club and sign for a team where he could fulfil his ambitions.
Manchester City have been pursuing the England captain with great intent and have even had an offer rejected for Kane already. And, despite splashing the big bucks on signing Jack Grealish from Aston Villa earlier this week, Guardiola has confirmed that the Premier League champions will go after Kane as well.
“He is a player for Tottenham Hotspur and if Tottenham don’t want to negotiate, it is finished. I think Man City and many clubs in the world want to try to sign him, we are not an exception, but it depends on Tottenham. It is different to Jack,” Guardiola said.

“He had the release [clause] and Jack is different. Harry is exceptional and we are interested in him but if Tottenham don’t want to negotiate, nothing more to say,” he added.
Kane, for his part, is keen on making the jump as well. The 28-year-old failed to show up for training at Tottenham this week, prompting speculations that he had done so in an effort to force a move away from the club. Nonetheless, the England superstar, has issued a statement clarifying that he would be returning to the north London outfit for training this weekend.
“While I won’t go into the specifics of the situation, I want to clarify that I would never, and have never, refused to train. I will be returning to the club tomorrow, as planned,” he tweeted on Friday.
Manchester City are desperate to sign Kane having lost all-time leading goalscorer Sergio Aguero to Barcelona. Whether they are successful in their bid to sign the England captain or whether Tottenham hold firm on their stance and retain the superstar striker remains to be seen.
