Leeds United have reportedly turned their attention towards 28-year-old Algerian attacker Farid Boulaya, valued at €4.5 million by FC Metz.
According to French journalist Mohamed Toubache-Ter, Farid Boulaya is the subject of interest from Leeds United over a move in the summer transfer window. The Premier League outfit are in talks to sign the 28-year-old Algerian attacker, who has been slapped with a €4.5 million price tag by Ligue 1 club FC Metz.
Farid Boulaya has been a journeyman in his decade long senior footballing career at club level, having started out at FC Istres before spending around a year or so at Clermont, Bastia and Girona. The move to FC Metz, though, has worked out, with the Algerian international turning out 107 times for the Ligue 1 outfit, while chipping in with 14 goals and 18 assists.
However, despite the fact that the 28-year-old attacker has been far from a prolific customer in the final third, Boulaya has impressed enough to capture the attention of several clubs across Europe. As things stand, Leeds United are among the suitors for Boulaya, with talks reportedly underway.
Leeds United have been rumoured to be in the market for an attacking reinforcement this summer, with the Whites already in talks to sign Noa Lang. The eagerness to sign a wide forward makes a lot of sense, even though Jack Harrison has joined the West Yorkshire club on a permanent deal.
That is because Helder Costa was far from impressive last season and is reportedly on the exit trail at Elland Road. Therefore, Leeds have had to dip their toes in the transfer market for a wide attacker, with the likes of Ryan Kent, Noni Madueke and Daniel James being linked with the club. And Boulaya has now emerged as a viable target for the Whites.
According to Mohamed Toubache-Ter, Leeds are not the only club in pursuit of the 28-year-old, who is also attracting interest from clubs in Spain and Italy. However, Leeds have made their first move for Boulaya, with discussions underway over a possible transfer in the ongoing summer transfer window.
Toubache-Ter has also mentioned a possible price tag, with FC Metz only demanding a lowly €4.5 million in exchange of the Algerian winger. What now remains to be seen is if Leeds step up their efforts to sign Boulaya further or if they decide to bolster their attack by turning their attention towards some other wide man.
