La Masia graduate Adama Traore is open to the prospect of making a return to Barcelona when he leaves Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In an interview with Spanish outlet RAC 1, Adama Traore responded to questions pertaining to a potential return to Barcelona. The Spanish international is prepared to make the switch from Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers to Camp Nou, a place he has called his home.

Adama Traore started his youth footballing career with Barcelona, joining the club’s famed La Masia academy in 2004, aged eight. He subsequently made swift progress in the youth setup before breaking into the first-team squad in 2013 at the nascent age. While he was rated quite highly, the player was unable to establish himself as a first-team regular and was sold to Aston Villa in 2015.
The switch to Villa Park did not really work out, and neither did his next move, to Middlesbrough. It was only when he joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer of 2018 that Traore really turned his career around. His exploits for Wolves also helped him earn his maiden call-up to the Spanish national side, and Traore is a part of the La Roja squad for UEFA Euro 2020.
However, heading into the summer transfer window, Traore’s future at Wolves is uncertain, with the departure of Nuno Espirito Santo leaving a lot of question marks for some of the best players at the Molineux. And one such player is Traore, who is entertaining the idea of returning to Barcelona.
Speaking to RAC 1, Traore commented on the prospect of re-joining Barcelona, saying, “Would I be happy to return to Barcelona? Barcelona is my home, it’s the reality. I grew up there, I’ve been at La Masia for 10 years. From here you should see, to manage with the my agents and also see what role Barcelona would like.”
Barcelona have not necessarily been linked with Traore of late, even though they have signed two attacking players and are also touted to still be in the market to reinforce the attacking department. To that end, Lorenzo Insigne is one of the players touted to be on Barcelona’s radar, with a few others named as well.
As for Traore, he has been heavily linked with a possible switch within the Premier League, with Chelsea showing an interest in him. There has been previous interest from Manchester City and Liverpool as well, and a summer move to one of the ‘Big Six’ clubs might not be out of the question.
When it comes to Barcelona, a possible interest could possibly serve them well if they end up offloading Emerson Royal and Sergi Roberto, with Traore being an option for the right wing-back slot in the 3-5-2 formation that has been in use lately. For now, any talk of a comeback to Barcelona is up in the air, even though Traore is open to a return.
