Transfer News: Chelsea interested in Harry Kane

Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane is on the radar of Chelsea as the Premier League giants line up summer reinforcements.

According to Daily Mail, Harry Kane is among the players Chelsea are currently looking at in their quest to bolster the attacking options in the summer. The Tottenham Hotspur forward is joined by Erling Haaland and Romelu Lukaku in the list of forwards who could be targeted by the club after the end of the season.

Chelsea, though, are aware of the fact that signing Kane could be a difficult ask due to the competitive nature of the Premier League that makes it almost impossible for star players to join their direct rivals. Yet, the English international has been consistently linked with a move to Manchester United, and the recent interest of Chelsea could add some exciting twist to his transfer saga this summer.

After all, Kane’s future at Tottenham is looking uncertain now more than ever, as the north London giants brace themselves for no European action in the new season, should they continue to trail West Ham, Liverpool and Chelsea in the league table. The recent defeat to Manchester City in the final of the Carabao Cup makes things more difficult for Daniel Levy, as the striker is already frustrated over the club’s lack of trophies.

It might just tempt him to seek a move to Chelsea, who are currently in the semi-final of the Champions League, with every chance of reaching the final. The Blues have improved a lot under the leadership of Thomas Tuchel, who will be keen on offloading his fringe attackers in the summer.

Olivier Giroud’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season while Tammy Abraham has been linked with a move to West Ham. Even Timo Werner is facing an uncertain future at the club following his poor performances since joining the Blues from RB Leipzig last summer.

The German’s potential departure in the summer should nicely pave the way for Kane to become the main striker at Chelsea. Given his technical skill, scoring prowess and experience in English football, the English international should thrive under Tuchel, with the support from creative players like Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz.

That said, Kane is sure to cost a fortune and considering Daniel Levy’s fiery character, it remains unlikely that Tottenham will ever sanction their striker’s move to direct rivals, keeping even Manchester United out of the equation.
