Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Argentine international Guido Rodriguez from Real Betis in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet El Gol Digital, Guido Rodriguez is the subject of interest from Arsenal over a move in the summer transfer window. The Argentine international is valued at around €18 million by Real Betis.
Guido Rodriguez joined Real Betis from Club America in January 2020 and has since gone on to establish himself as a mainstay in midfield for the Spanish outfit. This season, the 26-year-old has only missed one game when fit and available, amassing 28 appearances across all competitions and even chipping in with a couple of goals.
His progress seems to have caught the eye of one of the most well-known clubs in Europe, putting Real Betis in a bit of a precarious situation ahead of the summer transfer window. Indeed, Arsenal are keen on securing the services of the Argentine international to bolster their midfield.
Arsenal brought in a midfield reinforcement last summer by signing Thomas Partey, while Dani Ceballos arrived on loan once again. However, while Ceballos has been unable to reproduce his exploits from last season, Partey has been a frustrating figure due to his injury woes, which have restricted him to just 14 starts across all competitions.
The Ghanaian international is still primed for a bright future at Arsenal, but with Mohamed Elneny only being a bit-part player and with there being no guarantees that Ceballos will be signed on a permanent deal, the Gunners do need to enter the market for a midfielder in the summer. To that end, Franck Kessie has emerged as a target for the north Londoners.
In addition, Yves Bissouma is also being monitored for a summer move, although Arsenal face stiff competition from Leicester City and others in his pursuit. So, now, Rodriguez is an option worth considering as well for the Premier League giants.
That he is only priced at around €18 million further makes him an appealing prospect for Arsenal, who look set to launch the offensive for him. What now remains to be seen is if Rodriguez is zeroed in on as the primary target for Arsenal, or if they turn their attention to some other player come the summer window.
