Manchester United and PSG have reportedly set their sights on Corentin Tolisso, who could be set to leave Bayern Munich this summer.
According to a Germany publication Bild, as relayed by Tutto Mercato Web, Corentin Tolisso could be set to depart Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window. His situation has now alerted two of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Manchester United and PSG interested.
Tolisso joined Bayern Munich from Lyon in the summer of 2017 and has since endured an injury-riddled campaign, with the fitness issues hampering his progress to a great extent. The 26-year-old has, as a result, struggled to nail down a spot as a regular in the Bundesliga heavyweights’ first-team setup.
Till date, Tolisso has turned out 90 times for Bayern, with 17 goals and 12 assists to show for his efforts in those outings. With his fitness troubles pegging him back constantly, the German giants are now ready to cut their losses on the Frenchman, with a summer exit on the cards. His situation has piqued the interest of Manchester United and PSG.
The interest from Manchester United is not new, and the Red Devils were even linked with a possible move last summer. The continued pursuit, though, does make sense, considering United are in a precarious position when it comes to the future of Paul Pogba, who has coincidentally been on PSG’s radar as well.
However, in recent weeks, Pogba seems to have turned a corner at Manchester United, with his notorious agent Mino Raiola also straying clear of making any unnecessary comments. The player’s future at Old Trafford, though, remains uncertain and it has been suggested that any decision on his contract situation has been put off till after the season ends.
PSG, on the other hand, might need to delve into the transfer market for a central midfielder, seeing as Leandro Paredes and Julian Draxler are touted to be on the exit trail at Parc des Princes. If the two midfielders do end up leaving, the French champions will need to bolster their midfield, making Tolisso a viable target.
Both Manchester United and PSG have also been rumoured to be chasing Romain Faivre, another central midfielder, with Tolisso the latest common target. The report claims that while Bayern are open to parting ways with the French international, they are even ready to place an affordable price tag on him instead of trying to recoup the €47 million they paid to sign him in 2017.
What now remains to be seen is if Manchester United and PSG are indeed serious about their interest in Tolisso. If so, it will be interesting to see where the 26-year-old ends up moving next, with his time at Bayern Munich believed to be fast approaching its end.
