Liverpool 2-1 Leicester City: Milner scores last-gap goal as Reds continue perfect league start [Tweets]

James Milner scored the winner deep into injury time as Liverpool continued their perfect start to the Premier League season with a 2-1 win over Leicester City.

A tight first half ended with Liverpool taking the lead with a rare chance as Sadio Mane netted the opener to finish off a brilliant pass by Milner. It was more of the same in the second half but Leicester grabbed a deserved equaliser through James Maddison, although Adrian should have done better to deny the Englishman.

It almost appeared as if Liverpool’s 16-game winning run in the Premier League would come to end. But, Milner converted from the spot after Mane was fouled inside the Leicester box by Marc Albrighton. With the Reds continuing their perfect start to the season, the match-winner got a lot of deserved adulation for a superb performance.

Sadio Mane was also lauded after he scored his 50th Premier League goal for Liverpool, in what was his 100th top-flight appearance for the Reds.

Meanwhile, Mane was also accused of diving to win the match-winning penalty, with rivals left seething.
