Arsenal are set to sign 15-year-old Corinthians youngster Luigi Gaspar, son of former footballer and current Technical Director at the club, Edu Gaspar.
According to Brazilian publication Meu Timao, Luigi Gaspar is poised to complete his move from Corinthians to Arsenal. The youngster will move on a free transfer and will complete his move to Europe. But, Corinthians still have the prospect of getting a compensation fee as per FIFA rules.
Luigi Gaspar has been with Corinthians since the age of 8 and is currently a part of the club’s Under-15 team. A primary reason behind Luigi’s move to Europe, especially Arsenal, is the presence of his father Edu Gaspar at the club. Edu has recently joined Arsenal as the new technical director at the club.
Since Edu Gaspar’s arrival, Arsenal have already secured the services of highly-rated Brazilian striker Gabriel Martinelli. The forward is still seen as a young prospect, but did show glimpses of his explosive talent in the pre-season tour so far.
Arsenal were also rumoured to be plotting a move for Everton Soares, who was one of the breakout stars at Copa America. But, it seems the trail has gone cold after the Gunners chose to sign Nicolas Pepe from Lille in what has set a new club record in terms of transfer fee spent on a single purchase.

Luigi and father Edu Gaspar seem to confirm the move via the 15-year-old’s Instagram account. Luigi posted a heartfelt message for Corinthians and the fans.
“It was a pleasure to play for Corinthians, where I’ve won many titles, I’ve grown as person to be who I am today. My heart is black and white. Thanks again for everything Corinthians. I will forever be grateful to all of you.”, the post read, according to The Sun.
Edu Gaspar commented on the post, congratulating his son for the move and stating that it is part of a new challenge for the 15-year-old. A midfielder by trade, it will be interesting to see how Luigi Gaspar fares in England and whether he can develop into a fearful prospect in the years to come.
