Premier League is known to be one of the most competitive leagues in the world. And in a league as competitive as this, sometimes, you need a piece of magic to make a difference. While there are many ways to make a difference, the purest form is scoring a goal.
And there is nothing more soothing to the eyes of a football fan than a screamer in the back of the net. In this blog, we look at the magic that resulted in screamers and the best goals of the 2018-19 Premier League season.
Andros Townsend (Crystal Palace vs Manchester City)
Honestly, Townsend could have featured more than once on this list. But, his strike against Manchester City takes the cake. It is, by far, the most difficult long range shot witnessed in the 2018-19 Premier League. Not only did he hit it first time, but it was a half volley resulting from a headed clearance. To hit it with such venom and accuracy is an achievement in itself.
Vincent Kompany (Manchester City vs Leicester City)
The goal that decided the Premier League title, perhaps. Manchester City were heading towards a laboured draw against Leicester City. With the scores locked at 0-0 and the Foxes looking primed to continue defending in numbers, Vincent Kompany took matters into his own hands.
The shot was made special not just by the fact it gave City a much needed win but also by the fact that not many expected the captain to shoot, not even manager Pep Guardiola.

Fabian Schar (Newcastle United vs Burnley)
Well, Kompany wasn’t the only defender to produce such an effort. While Kyle Walker did score a goal from similar range, it was Fabian Schar’s goal that we prefer to include in this list, purely based on the wow or shock factor that the goal produced.
Schar has been one of the main reasons behind Newcastle’s success this season and has been one of the best transfers of the 2018-19 Premier League season. This goal shows a different dimension to the defender, one that would have caught a lot of onlookers by surprise, sweet or otherwise.
Jean Michael Seri (Fulham vs Burnley)
Labelled as one of the hottest properties of the 2018 summer transfer window, Jean Michael Seri may have been disappointed at his own and Fulham’s season performance. But, this goal showed what Seri is all about. A box to box midfielder with a great shot on him, Seri’s goal was perhaps one of the highlights of Fulham’s first half of the 2018-19 campaign.
Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool vs Chelsea)
There was much deliberation over this choice. There were more than a couple of contenders. Mohamed Salah’s strike against Chelsea was as exquisite while Gylfi Sigurdsson’s presence of mind and then the goal deserved a shout at least. But, Daniel Sturridge’s strike stood out for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, there was no run-up or wingspan that could have allowed him to produce the power necessary. Secondly, the ability to hit it so accurately with just one touch of the ball made the entire goal.
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City vs Crystal Palace)
This goal should be in the list, regardless of the fact that there is still a doubt over whether Kevin De Bruyne meant it or not. The fact remains that the ball went into the back of the net from that angle and given the range, it is worthy of making it onto the list for people to vote.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal vs Leicester City)
This may not be a screamer. But, it was the best worked goal of the 2018-19 Premier League season. There just is something about well-worked goals and Arsenal that is just pure magic. Arsene Wenger might have gone but the legacy shined through in this goal, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang providing the finishing touch to what was a sumptuous sequence of neat passes.
Andre Schurrle (Fulham vs Burnley)
The strike, to be fair, wasn’t as exquisite as some of the others that we decided not to included in this list. But, the touch from Andre Schurrle to bring the long ball down and in control while shooting it as the ball was still in the air was just a pinch of beauty.
Son Heung-min (Tottenham vs Chelsea)
The sheer determination that was shown by Son Heung-min in the lead-up to this goal pushes it onto the list. Receiving the ball down the channel with no teammate in sight, Son continued to run and then dribbled past two Chelsea players, before slotting it calmly beyond Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Son may not be the most technically gifted or the best dribbler, but his determination shined through in this goal.
Eden Hazard (Chelsea vs West Ham United)
If Aubameyang’s goal was the best team goal of the season, Eden Hazard’s goal against West Ham United takes the cake for being the best individual effort. The Belgian might be linked with a move away from Chelsea, but he sure has given the Blues fans lots of things to smile about and reminisce, including this wonder goal.
Hazard dribbled past West Ham players like silk and his shot was accurate and powerful enough to fizz past the keeper.
