Liverpool left it really late to grab all three points on New Year’s Day as they beat Burnley 2-1 at Turf Moor to kick off 2018 on a positive note.
The Reds dominated the first half without being incisive enough, but finally got their breakthrough at the hour mark, with a fantastic goal from the edge of the box. Just when it looked like all three points were secured though, Burnley equalised through Johann Berg Gudmundsson.
But, there was time for one more goal as Ragnar Klavan headed in the winner deep into injury time to ensure the win for his side. And the Estonian, as well as Dejan Lovren were hailed – and trolled – for their contribution, just when it’s starting to look like they’ll find themselves on the bench soon.

I was alive when Lovren assisted a Klavan winner off a stoppage time set piece for Liverpool, on a cold, rainy night at Burnley. #BURLIV #LFC

WHAT. A. MASSIVE. GOAL.
A huge win for Liverpool, against such a horrible team.
Fitting that Lovren and Klavan combined for the winning goal, thought they were immense.

Sadio Mane was lauded for his goal as well, as the Senegalese winger stepped in the absence of Mohamed Salah, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino.
A true indication of Sadio Mané’s brilliance is the fact he’s capable of pulling off a sensational back-heeled assist, or a thunderous goal, in what’s been probably his poorest spell for Liverpool.
Today he was ill, and low on confidence – yet still scored a world class goal.

We go mad for Bobby, Phil and Mo at the moment, but in the last 3 days, Mane has produced our best assist of the season and a jaw-dropping goal today. He’s back, Reds.
