The contract talks between Chelsea and Kyle Scott have broken down, with the youngster being closely followed by Leicester City and Huddersfield.
According to The Sun, Chelsea fear they may lose youngster Kyle Scott to a fellow Premier League team, with the player a target for Leicester City and Huddersfield. The midfielder has halted his contract renewal talks with Chelsea, which would come as a huge blow for the Blues.
Kyle Scott hit the headlines as his deadline day loan move to Reading was stopped by Antonio Conte, with the Blues struggling to find an agreement with Leicester City for the transfer of Danny Drinkwater. And since the move ended up happening, Scott was relegated to playing football for the lower age groups.
It is worth noting that while the United States Under-20 international is yet to taste senior football at Chelsea, the 20-year-old was an unused substitute in the first couple of Premier League games this season.
And while Chelsea do intend to retain the midfielder, they may have their hand forced, with Scott not ready to open contract renewal talks with the club. The 20-year-old does have 18 months left on his current deal, but seems to have become disenchanted with life at the club.
The reason isn’t financial either, with Kyle seeing himself as a player worthy and in need of regular first-team football – something which he is finding hard to come by at Chelsea and the situation is unlikely to improve anytime soon.

Scott also has clubs ready to give him a quicker path into the first-team, that too in the Premier League itself, with Leicester City and Huddersfield interested in the player. The Foxes are looking to reinforce their midfield with ball-playing midfielders.
However, Claude Puel should have Adrien Silva arrive in January, which could see them withdraw their interest in Kyle. Huddersfield, on the other hand, is a team full of summer recruits as David Wagner signed players on a mass scale.
And the project seems to be coming together nicely as well, with the Terriers happily away from the relegation zone thus far. Wagner – like his mentor Jurgen Klopp – also loves working with young prospects and the manager is looking to bring the 20-year-old in as a long-term addition to the team.
Chelsea have earned somewhat of a bad reputation as far as bringing through academy stars are concerned. Despite handing a more prominent role to Ethan Ampadu, a case can be made for a few summer departures, especially Nathaniel Chalobah and Ruben Loftus-Cheek – the latter on loan.
And now, with both of the summer exits earning call-ups to the English National Team, there are cues that the Blues may have dropped the ball, again. The club will now be wary of any further departures, especially the academy graduates.
It does look like they are slowly treading the right path under Conte, as far as youth involvement is concerned.
