Manchester United had to battle hard for all three points on Wednesday night as they scraped to a narrow 1-0 win over Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
Romelu Lukaku scored the only goal in the match midway through the first half, but Bournemouth gave Jose Mourinho’s men a run for their money trading blow for blow with the hosts without managing to get on the score sheet.
In the end, the hosts held on to the win to return to winning ways, and Manchester United fans praised Lukaku for returning to goalscoring ways and helping his side to the win.
It makes me sad that Lukaku didn’t celebrate, he’s clearly seen the hate peoples have been giving him, why can’t people just support our players through good and bad times.

It’s almost as if when Lukaku gets quality service from our wingers & creative players he scores goals. Funny that.

Chuffed for Lukaku. Hopefully confidence is starting to come back.

Not a great half but very glad to be up a goal. So glad for Lukaku !
Shaw has been bright and Dave with his usual saves. Need to do better in the second half. Come on United !— Sadikshya (@Sadikshya_) December 13, 2017
Scott McTominay was in fine form in his first Premier League start of the season for Manchester United on the night, and fans lauded his display.
I’m such a fan of McTominay. Strong on the ball, adds extra presence to #MUFC. Also brave, always looking to play forward in possession and always seeking ball. Biggest testament to Scott is that I’d be comfortable with him deputising for Matic as our main CDM. And I love Nemanja

McTominay was also great tonight, loved the performance from the young man! Looked confident, decent on the ball – the man looked his part! #FullTimeJohn

Really impressed by McTominay. The lad looked calm& composed ,Making it look oh so simple. A carrick esque performance.. another young blood at united looking very promising. ??

Really impressed by Scott McTominay. Makes the game look simple. A fantastic passer and very solid when he needs to be. Some lovely passes to break the lines of Bournemouth’s midfield. Good player.

McTominay played really well in the 2nd half. Nice over the top through balls to Lukaku & some good crosses + most importantly was running into the box from midfield. We lack runners from midfield when Pogba isn’t playing. Serious issue to fix.

But, the night belonged to Luke Shaw, making only his second start of the season, and the beleaguered defender got some support from Mourinho as well.
Jose on McTominay & Shaw: “Very good, both. Luke started slow but was improving and improving. It’s normal that physically he was feeling it. The reaction of the crowd to him pleases me. Scott has played 90 mins in 3 different comps. Why? Because in every match he was an adult.”

Another solid performance from Luke Shaw last night. #mufc pic.twitter.com/ly8zUIdcoh

There’s enough there to work with Shaw.. spunking 40-50 million on a left back can be better spent elsewhere

Luke Shaw comes off to a standing ovation. Another fine performance. #mufc

This is easily the best Luke Shaw has looked since his broken leg. Looks confident, fit, and he’s added important width which Anthony Martial has benefited from already tonight. Great to see.
— Adam Joseph (@AdamJosephSport) December 13, 2017
Luke Shaw has been superb tonight. A joy to watch when fit and firing. Fantastic going down the left and makes up for Manchester United’s lack of wingers. Top performance.
— Liam Canning (@LiamPaulCanning) December 13, 2017
How great it’ll be if Luke Shaw can actually resurrect his @ManUtd career. All of a sudden one of our big problem for years will be solved.
— rahul (@rpk_mufc) December 14, 2017
Yes it’s only two games but Luke Shaw hasn’t put a foot wrong in either which has resulted in two well deserved MOTM awards, He’s on the tight path.
— JM (@Mourinholic) December 13, 2017
Luke Shaw showing he’s the left back we need at the moment.
— All For United (@allforunited) December 13, 2017
Luke Shaw has proved in his last 2 performances that he should be given the confidence of José To start as #MUFC 1st choice LB. That’s £50m which can readily be invested better elsewhere. 3 new players in January an absolute must. RB, Midfielder and Winger.

Shaw’s game by numbers vs. Bournemouth:
