Jurgen Klopp will be without Joel Matip and Adam Lallana as Chelsea travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday.
Liverpool have managed a small run of positive results in the Premier League and will be looking to continue the same as Chelsea come visiting. However, The Reds will continue to be without two of their talismans – Joel Matip and Adam Lallana, who are both on the track to recovery.
Jurgen Klopp provided positive updates on both the players in the pre-match conference, with Matip missing the game due to a knock and Lallana being out with a thigh problem.
“Adam is on his way, no doubt about that. We have to see how we will handle this in the next few days and weeks. Joel trained yesterday for the first time with the team and, again, we have to to see as well. But both give good signs – nothing else to say about that in the moment.”
There is another player who could miss the fixture. Emre Can came on as a substitute in Liverpool’s scintillating 3-3 draw against Sevilla in the UEFA Champions League during the midweek and having received a knock in due course, the midfielder is a doubt for the game – a team update confirmed by the boss himself.
“Both give good signs.”

Nathaniel Clyne’s continued absence is likely to see Trent Alexander-Arnold assume his position on the right side of the defence, especially with Joe Gomez playing the entire ninety minutes of the Sevilla game. The point of interest though, will be whether Alberto Moreno retains his position as left-back after a relapse of his inconsistent days.
Jurgen Klopp has kept faith in the Spaniard in recent days, despite the addition of Andrew Robertson in the summer and it will be interesting to see whether the German continues to do so.
The spotlight, as usual, will be on the quartet of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah – four players who form one of the deadliest attacks in club football at the present moment.
Salah will be up against his former club and the Egyptian is likely to be eager to put in a great shift on Saturday, a game that could be very important if Liverpool are to prove themselves as genuine title contenders.
