Manchester United are reportedly prepared to offer Jose Mourinho a bumper new long-term contract amid interest from PSG.
According to a report by Daily Mirror, Manchester United are eager to tie Jose Mourinho down to a new long-term contract. With the Portuguese manager being heavily linked with a switch to PSG, the Red Devils are prepared to offer him a bumper new contract to ward off the interest from the French giants.
Mourinho joined Manchester United eighteen months ago, with the job of reviving the fortunes of a fledgling giant of English football. Coming off a catastrophic end to his second stint as the Chelsea boss, the task at hand was always going to be a sizable one.
One season and a few months on, one would say that the start to the Mourinho-Manchester United marriage has been quite a successful one, with the club ending a long winding campaign with two major honours as well as the Community Shield.
While there were a lot of obstacles for Mourinho & co. last season, with the injuries and inability to put away overly defensive sides, there has been a pleasant sea change in the style of play that the Portuguese manager has employed, as compared to the ones by David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

The progress under Mourinho has been all the more visible at the onset of the 2017-18 season, with Manchester United second in the Premier League table, albeit eight points behind Manchester City. The Red Devils also looking set to progress to the knockout stages in the Champions League.
While things seem to be heading in the right direction, the last month or so has brought about concerns surrounding his future at Old Trafford, with PSG sniffing around for a possible swoop.
Mourinho has remained coy on talks of his future, but the fact that he is admittedly desperate to win the Premier League title at Old Trafford means he is not done yet at United. Manchester United, too, are confident that they can ward off Les Parisiens, although they are set to put a new long-term contract on the table for Mourinho.
Widespread reports have indeed suggested that a bumper new deal could be on the cards for the 54-year-old, and the club will open talks with the manager at the turn of the year, in what will be a deal that will “reflect the new-found success and progress he has brought”.
PSG, on the other hand, are likely to be in the market for a manager next summer if Unai Emery doesn’t deliver this season. As far as the Manchester United hierarchy is concerned, Mourinho is not headed to the French capital just yet, and a renewal will be a sign of the same.
