Real Madrid closed the gap on Barcelona to five points and climbed up to second spot in the La Liga table as they slogged to a 2-1 win over Getafe on Saturday.
The international break hangover seemed to have affected Real Madrid on Saturday as they produced a sluggish performance. However, the visitors did enough to grab all three points as Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo produced the goods to make it four wins in a row in all competitions.
The win took Los Blancos to within five points of Barcelona as they climbed to second spot in the league table. Following the result, Twitter was abuzz with congratulatory messages for Zinedine Zidane, who managed his 100th Real Madrid game on Saturday.

A tight win, a CR7 goal, an Isco assist & a perfect Benzema performance. Very typical of Zidane.
Thank you for 100 games!!!

There was also praise for Karim Benzema, who marked his first start in more than a month with his first league goal of the season.

The best thing about Benzema’s goal was the fact that he checked to his left to see if there was a better option before shooting.
