Liverpool endured yet another afternoon of frustrating football as Newcastle United held them to a 1-1 draw at St. James’ Park on Sunday.
The familiar troubles presented themselves again on Sunday for Liverpool as they were held to a frustrating draw by Newcastle United despite creating a raft of chances that were failed to capitalise on.
The visitors grabbed the lead midway through the first half as Philippe Coutinho scored from a scintillating long-range curler. But Joselu restored parity for Newcastle soon after, albeit through a fortunate as Joel Matip’s attempted tackle ricocheted off him past Simon Mignolet.
Thereafter, Liverpool dominated the bulk of the possession but were wasteful with their chances, in a similar fashion to recent outings in league and Europe. With just one win in their last seven games, the frustrations are understandably visible among the Liverpool fans.
Liverpool didn’t just lose control, they lost their heads. It was horribly disjointed and Klopp couldn’t hide his anger. (James Pearce)

Poor second half from Liverpool, again concede a poor goal & not clinical enough in front of goal. Then almost lose it from a set piece!!

Why wasn’t there a Plan B for Virgil van Dijk in the summer? Why weren’t Liverpool in the market for a top-class striker? (James Pearce)

Wow that is just pathetic defending again typical Liverpool

So disheartening to watch such a brilliant performance once again let down by central defenders. #LFC

Liverpool doing a Liverpool by scoring a worldie Liverpool goal only to concede a typical Liverpool goal just a few minutes later. #LFC

Dropped 6 points vs Watford, Burnley and Newcastle. No disrespect to those teams, but we should be winning all 3.

Meanwhile, rival fans took the opportunity to poke fun at Liverpool and manager Jurgen Klopp, after yet another winless result, while the familiar Oxlade-Chamberlain trolls resurfaced too.

Liverpool have one win in 7 games. Yet to win a game in the Champions league this season.
But Klopp is a great because he hugs his players

Gotta feel sorry for Klopp, how could he have known in the last 4 transfer windows that he needed to sign a centre back?

But, it wasn’t all doom and gloom as Philippe Coutinho was hailed after he continued his fine form on Sunday.
Philippe Coutinho has scored more Premier League goals from outside the box (17) since 2012/13 than any other player.

The amount of times Coutinho has cut inside and smashed it in from distance, it should be pure muscle memory by now…..

Coutinho is a sensational difference maker, one of the best in the league at scoring out of nothing. Unreasonable to keep denying it.
