Transfer News: Chelsea sign Kylian Hazard

Chelsea have completed the signing of Kylian Hazard from Hungarian outfit Ujpest and the player joins his brother Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have officially declared on the club website that they have completed the signing of Kylian Hazard from Hungarian side Ujpest. The player becomes the third Hazard brother to sign for the Blues.

Eden Hazard was the first to arrive at Stamford Bridge and Thorgan soon followed. But, while Eden has established himself as a superstar, not just at Stamford Bridge or in the Premier League but in world football, Thorgan struggled at Chelsea and seems to have finally found his footing at Borussia Monchengladbach.

Kylian is now set to join Chelsea’s development squad and will hope to emulate more of Eden’s career than Thorgan’s, who failed to make a senior league appearance for Chelsea during his three-year stay at the club.

Like Eden, the 22-year-old started his career at LOSC Lille but soon moved to Belgium to join White Star Brussel and subsequently Zulte Waregem before finally moving to Hungarian giants Ujpest FC in the summer of 2015, a club where he finally found ample game time and room to showcase his talent.

The winger, though, did not make much of an impact, with 4 goals and 5 assists in 42 appearances for the Hungarian outfit. But, it seems he did just enough, with Chelsea coming in for the third Hazard brother, who was linked with a move to Chelsea during his time at Zulte Waregem.

The 22-year-old is set to slot into the Under-23 squad for now and would hope to prove his mettle quickly for the development squad in order to catch the eye of Antonio Conte. Chelsea’s academy setup has earned rave reviews, with several promising players emerging in recent times.

However, not many have been able to carve out a niche for themselves in the first-team setup at Stamford Bridge. But, in an alternative thought process, majority of those players have managed to make a name for themselves elsewhere, be it in the Premier League or some other top league in Europe.

Thus, Kylian would hope to do the same if he is unable to make it to the heights of Eden Hazard. For now, Kylian would be ecstatic at the opportunity to perhaps one day, share the field with Eden at club level.

Who knows, the Belgian fans could one day be treated with all three Hazard brothers taking to the field together for the Red Devils.
