Christian Pulisic has reportedly shot down rumours of a Liverpool move, and is believed to be keen continue his journey with Borussia Dortmund.
According to a report by ESPN, Christian Pulisic is happy to continue with Borussia Dortmund, and the US international has shot down all rumours of a possible move to Liverpool. The Merseyside club made attempts to sign Pulisic previously as well, but a deal has never materialize.
And after signing a new contract with Dortmund in January, Pulisic has no intentions of leaving the German club anytime soon. As reported by ESPN, the player said, “Yes, I have read that as well. What can I say? I’m focused on the start of the season.
“I’ll lay it on the line for you: I am not thinking about changing clubs. After all, I only signed a new deal through to 2020 in January. I am very happy at Dortmund.”
This would come as a major blow to Jurgen Klopp, who identified Pulisic as a possible replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who looks set to join Barcelona before the transfer window slams shut.
At merely 18 years of age, Pulisic is renowned as one of the best attacking prospects in the world. He has established himself as a lethal entity at international level as well, while progressing into an instrumental figure for Dortmund.
In fact, the 2016/17 season saw Pulisic feature regularly for Dortmund, with 43 appearances to his name, with five goals and 13 assists to show for his efforts. With Peter Bosz’s appointment as the new Dortmund boss, it was speculated that the player might see a lack of game time due to a possible influx of new players.
However, that seems unlikely now since Pulisic has admitted to being quite satisfied playing in the Bundesliga. Considering his rapid development though, it comes as no surprise that the player was identified as a top target for the Reds. But as things stand now, the Jurgen Klopp might have to look elsewhere.
With Coutinho’s imminent departure to Barcelona, Liverpool could have provided a massive opportunity for Pulisic to become a key figure for the celebrated English club. The financial aspect would not have been a problem since Coutinho’s sale will bring in a considerable amount of disposable cash as well.
Pulisic and Klopp could have achieved a lot of great things if the move went through. Be that as it may, Klopp will now need to seek another an alternative for Coutinho before the transfer window ends.
