Chelsea have reportedly shifted their attention to AS Monaco full-back Djibril Sidibe as Antonio Conte seeks depth before the end of the summer transfer window.
According to TransferMarketWeb, Chelsea are now looking towards AS Monaco full-back Djibril Sidibe to add some much-needed depth at the wing-back position. The Blues have been knocked back by failure in the pursuit of Danilo and Benjamin Mendy, which has forced the club to now look at the Frenchman as a potential solution.
Djibril Sidibe moved to Monaco last summer only, with reports that the player rejected advances from Arsenal in order to secure a move to the French club. And, the player ended up reaping rewards of his decision, with Monaco going on to win Ligue 1 and managing to make it into the semi-finals of the Champions League as well.

The player made 47 appearances with 3 goals and 8 assists to show for his efforts and was one of the key players for Leonardo Jardim. But, the brilliant season saw many of Monaco’s superstars being chased by several top clubs and Sidibe was no exception.
The player was linked with several clubs including Arsenal again. But, it looks like another London outfit is set to target the 25-year-old this summer. Chelsea have been frustrated in the transfer market due to failure in the pursuit of Danilo and Benjamin Mendy.
And with growing tension between Conte and the Chelsea board, the need for new signings is paramount. And the Blues could kill two birds with a stone in their pursuit of Sidibe, who is equally adept at playing on either side of the defence.
The 25-year-old could ideally be a first-choice right wing-back and a challenger or cover for Marcos Alonso in his absence. Also, with several of the Monaco stars leaving for comparitively higher-profile clubs, the player could also jump ship.
Ideally, the 25-year-old would also fetch a considerably hefty price, given the fact that the player only arrived in 2016. But, with Alex Sandro no nearer to Chelsea up until now, Sidibe could be the club’s best shot at reinforcing the wing-back area.
