Barcelona are reportedly set to make a move for Paulo Dybala as they resign themselves to losing Neymar this summer.

Spanish publication Don Balon have reported that Barcelona are set to rekindle their interest in Paulo Dybala, with Neymar looking likely to depart from Camp Nou in this summer’s transfer window. The Juventus forward is, thus, being eyed as the ideal replacement for the outbound Brazilian.

Dybala joined Juventus in the summer of 2015 after three fruitful seasons with Palermo. The period saw the player become one of the hottest properties in Europe as some of the biggest clubs in the continent vied for his signature before the Bianconeri snapped him up.

And Dybala has turned out to be a revelation for Juventus, having taken no time to establish himself as a key figure for the Serie A giants. His record thus far for the club is quite remarkable, bagging 42 goals and 18 assists in 94 appearances while playing an instrumental role in back-to-back Serie A triumphs.

His style of play and nimble feet have also seen Dybala draw comparisons to his compatriot and idol, Lionel Messi. And if the Don Balon report is anything to go by, the 23-year-old could be set to join Messi at Barcelona this summer.

The Catalan club are in a precarious situation, with Brazilian superstar Neymar being heavily linked with a summer departure from Camp Nou. A move to PSG is widely being reported, prompting Barcelona to scour for a viable replacement.

And in Dybala, the Blaugrana seem to have found a top notch replacement for the Brazilian stalwart. The player can potentially be a valuable addition at Camp Nou, with his ability to play equally adeptly across various positions in attack.

And at 23, the Argentina international is likely to be a long-term solution up front for Barcelona, should he continue his development at an impressive rate. Therefore, the Catalans are set to reignite their interest in the player, having been heavily linked to him in the past.

The report suggests that Barcelona have already made contacts with Dybala’s representatives, and that the player is open to a move. Dybala is excited by the prospect of linking up with his idol at the club level as well.

An official move for the youngster though, hinges heavily on Neymar’s departure, and so it remains to be seen if the Brazilian forward indeed leaves Barcelona this summer to pave the way for Dybala’s arrival.
