Chelsea have confirmed through all social media platforms that they have struck an agreement with Real Madrid over the transfer of Alvaro Morata.
Chelsea’s everlasting search for a striker has finally come to an end as the Blues have confirmed on their official website to have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Spanish international Alvaro Morata – a deal that would finally have Antonio Conte relieved after several botched attempts to land other targets.
The official confirmation has stated that the transfer is all but done subject to agreement of personal terms and a medical. Chelsea seemed to be set to go into the season without a true leader of their strikeforce, with Diego Costa all but set to depart the club.
Alvaro Morata’s return to Santiago Bernabeu was supposed to finally be the time when the Spaniard becomes the first-choice and leads Real’s attack. However, Zinedine Zidane’s preference to field Benzema has seen Morata play second fiddle to the Frenchman, having to be satisfied with rare starts and regular sub appearances.
Marca & Spanish outlets say that Alvaro Morata will cost Chelsea €80m + €5m in bonuses (£75m) despite Chelsea’s briefing to English press.

In spite of the aforementioned, Morata ended the season as club’s second highest goalscorer (20) behind only to Cristiano Ronaldo. Morata, though, is unconvinced his performance will catapult him above Benzema in the pecking order, which prompted him to look for pastures anew.
For a long while this summer, Manchester United was touted to be the destination for Morata, who had reportedly agreed personal terms with the club as well. However, Real Madrid’s persistence to not budge over their asking price saw Manchester United pursue Lukaku instead and get the Evertonian.
With Lukaku going to Manchester United, Chelsea were also desperate to land a striker – the Belgian was their first-choice. The Blues were linked to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as well. But, it seems they have finally managed to achieve something United couldn’t – strike an agreement over the transfer fee with Real Madrid.

While the transfer is pending subject to agreement over personal terms and a medical, those are expected to be sorted out in the coming days. It will be interesting to note that both Antonio Conte and Alvaro Morata established their name at Juventus.
And, it will be enticing to see how Morata can grow and adjust to life at Stamford Bridge. Conte, too, would be raring to team up with a striker, who even though has lots to learn, has been hailed as every manager he was worked under so far.
