Liverpool are reportedly seeking an opportunity to snap up Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Emre Mor on loan in the summer
According to a report in The Sun, Borussia Dortmund are ready to send Emre Mor out on loan this summer. The Bundesliga club have offered Liverpool the chance to sign the Turkish winger, with the Reds also seeking the option of a permanent switch in the summer of 2018.
Mor moved between different clubs at youth level in Denmark before signing his professional contract with FC Nordsjaelland in 2015. The player enjoyed a promising maiden senior campaign with the Danish Superliga club, making 13 first-team appearances, and subsequently earning a place in Turkey’s squad for Euro 2016.
Having impressed for Nordsjaelland, as well as his national side, Mor moved to Borussia Dortmund last summer on a five-year deal. However, he has struggled to cement his place in the club’s first-team setup this season, with Christian Pulisic and Ousmane Dembele commanding a more regular role in the side.
As a result, the 19-year-old managed to make just 12 Bundesliga appearances – Mor started only 5 of these. Dortmund are now ready to let the player move away from the Westfalenstadion on loan in the summer in order to gain some valuable game time next season.
The Bundesliga club are now offering Liverpool the option to sign Mor on a temporary basis in the summer transfer window. Thus, Jurgen Klopp now has the opportunity to finally bring the Turkey international to Anfield a year after the player chose the move to Dortmund instead.
The former Dortmund manager is eager to beef up his squad this summer to address a lack of depth in several positions. Attack is one of the priorities for Klopp, with little to choose beyond Philippe Coutinho and Sadio Mane as his options on either side of his side’s front trio.
The Liverpool boss is, thus, determined to make reinforcements in attack, and is eyeing a move for Mohamed Salah as well. But with the risk of being priced out of a deal by Roma, he has identified Gelson Martins as a contingency plan. And Mor could be next in line for a summer switch to Anfield.
Klopp, though, is keen to sign Mor on a permanent deal and weighing up the chance to initially bring the player on loan with the additional option to sign him permanently in the summer of 2018.
A move to Liverpool will definitely provide the Turk the opportunity to play more regular first-team football, having failed to usurp Dembele and Pulisic at Dortmund. However, it remains to be seen if Dortmund agree to Liverpool’s potential offer of a permanent deal following a season-long loan spell next season.
