Louis van Gaal has signaled his intentions to retire from football management after confirming that he is unlikely to take up another job in the future.
The legendary Dutch manager has managed some giants of club football like Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester United, as well as the Dutch national team, managing each of his teams to varying levels of success.
He had been out of work since leaving Manchester United at the end of the 2015/16 season, and even though he was linked with PSG last month, he has indicated to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf that the Old Trafford job is set to be his last.
Van Gaal said: “I thought maybe I would stop, then I thought it would be a sabbatical, but now I do not think I will return to coaching. So much has happened in my family, you become a human being again with your nose pressed to the facts.”
The football world took to twitter to pay homage to the Iron Tulip, who will be remembered for developing some of the best footballers in recent years.
