Theo Walcott reveals Christmas target after helping Arsenal win over Bournemouth

Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has revealed that he has set a target to score ten goals before Christmas, and collect the present of a coffee machine from his wife should he manage to reach the mark in time.

Arsenal saw off AFC Bournemouth 3-1 on Sunday evening to cap off November with a win. Goals from star striker Alexis Sanchez and Walcott ensured that the Gunners continued their fine unbeaten run since the season-opening 4-3 loss against Liverpool.

Speaking in the aftermath of the game, Walcott talked about his goal scoring form and explained that he has a peculiar source of inspiration to bag ten goals for the season within the next few weeks. As reported by Guardian, he said: “I want to get 10 [goals] so I can get a coffee machine for Christmas from my wife.

“She said ‘if you get 10 goals before Christmas I’ll buy you this coffee machine’. So I can’t wait for that and hopefully it will happen.”

Walcott also said that he is glad that the confusion over his ideal position is out of the way, and that he can now focus on improving his game over the course of the season. He added: “I sat down with the manager at the start of the season and said where I want to play so now I don’t have to think about anything else.

“I’m still working hard in training, in the gym and on the mental side of it. And making sure I have time at home as well. Everything seems to be clicking. I just want to make sure I’m the best I can be every day going into training. If I can stay fit hopefully it can be a good season, not just for me but for everyone else.”

The start of the season has seen a reinvigorated Theo Walcott take the field for Arsenal. The England international has established himself on the right wing for his club, and having made the position his own has become indispensable at the Emirates Stadium.

In what has been his most consistent season in an Arsenal shirt so far, Walcott has already taken his tally to nine goals, impressively scoring a goal every 130 minutes. With just a goal to score before he achieves his target, Walcott could very well get his hands on a new coffee machine by the time Christmas comes calling.
