Transfer News: Chelsea plot January move for Nottingham Forest starlet Matty Cash

Chelsea are reportedly plotting a January move for Championship starlet Matty Cash, who currently plays for Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Post have claimed that, as per the Sunday People, Chelsea are showing interest in highly-rated Nottingham Forest youngster Matty Cash. The Blues are currently looking for additions to their midfield roster and are looking to secure a transfer for the 19-year-old in January.

Matty Cash is a 19-year-old English midfielder who joined Nottingham Forest in October of 2014, after coming through the academy at Wycombe Wanderers and a short stint thereafter at the Football Academy at Bisham Abbey.

The youngster was sent out on loan for the latter half of the 2015-16 campaign to Dagenham and Redbridge, where the player impressed with 4 goals in 12 appearances.

Cash has finally broken into the first-team setup at Nottingham Forest, appearing in 5 matches in the Championship for the club. As per the report, Chelsea are ready to shelve out £1.5m to land the youngster while Nottingham Forest have set an asking price of £5m for the player’s services.

However, the report has added that, the two teams could reach a compromise and Chelsea could achieve a transfer for the player, provided they allow the 19-year-old to remain at Nottingham Forest till the end of the current season.

The player, whose current deal runs till 2019, had suffered a fractured tibia in September, which kept him out until this match-day, wherein he played a part in the club’s 5-2 win over Barnsley on Friday.

The player had impressed Nottingham Forest academy manager Gary Brazil, who spoke of the player’s abilities when he signed his professional contract last year.

“Technically he’s very good and he’s got the ability to break lines from midfield and get into the box. I think he’s one that will be able score goals,” Brazil was quoted as saying by Daily Star.

Chelsea are unlikely to have a problem with loaning the player back to Nottingham Forest and with no other party reportedly interested in the player up until now, Cash could be making his way to Stamford Bridge soon.

Changes seem to be ringing in at Stamford Bridge and Conte’s openness to giving youth and fringe players a chance might just convince Cash to make the move.
