It was another frustrating evening for Barcelona as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Real Sociedad. Manager Luis Enrique slammed his team after the game, calling it the worst performance he had seen under his charge.

The San Sebastian is not a happy hunting ground for the Blaugrana. Their last away victory against Real Sociedad came in 2007, and the winless stretch continued this past weekend. Barcelona managed to salvage a 1-1 draw thanks to a Lionel Messi equalizer, but they couldn’t find a way to beat La Real.

Manager Luis Enrique was infuriated after the game. He ripped into his Barcelona side and stated that even the point was more than they deserved from what he termed as the worst performance under his management.

“It’s easy to explain [the result] because Real Sociedad were superior to us in all aspects,” Enrique said, according to ESPN.

“It’s almost a miracle that it’s ended 1-1. They’ve not allowed us to string five passes together, they pressed us as and when they wanted, they won all the battles and you have to say that to be goalless at halftime was a miracle.

“It’s the worst performance since I have been in charge. We didn’t deserve the point we’re taking back to Barcelona.”

This is the second successive draw that Barcelona have been held to, after a goalless match against Malaga in the Camp Nou last week. This leaves them trailing even further behind arch-rivals Real Madrid in the race for the La Liga title.

Real are now six points clear of Barcelona at the top of the table, with 33 points after beating Sporting Gijon on Saturday. The Blaugrana are on 27 points, separated from third place Sevilla only by goal difference.

This is a frustrating result for the Catalans, especially considering that they go head to head with Real Madrid at the Camp Nou next week. A win would have meant they would have the momentum going forward into El Clasico, but instead Barca will be worried about how their star attacking trio of Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez were stifled by Real Sociedad.
