The London based club have joined the race to win the Argentine play-maker’s signature with an Italian and Chinese club already in fray
Javier Pastore is enduring from some of his toughest days with PSG, after sustaining as many as six injuries last season while turning out to be somewhat out of favour under new manager Unai Emery this season.
The Argentine is said to be unhappy with the limited game-time at the club, having started only three of the first seven league matches, including not making it to the 18-man squad on two occasions. Similarly, he hasn’t started in any of the club’s Champions League group-stage fixtures for the season.
To add to the misery, Pastore suffered a recurrence of calf injury towards end of September, with reports claiming he could be out for anywhere between five weeks to rest of the year. Though the midfielder immediately took to twitter to quash those reports, the exact timelines for his return has not been revealed by the club as of yet.
And now, GFFN have claimed the 27-year-old will be handed an escape route by Chelsea, with manager Antonio Conte believed to be a huge admirer of the player since he first established himself at Palermo.
The report is corroborated by ESPN, who claim in similar vein regarding Antonio Conte’s admiration for Pastore. The report also suggests Chelsea have already registered their interest in the player to PSG, should there be any new development in Pastore’s future.
Javier Pastore has been approached by an unnamed Italian club and also has big money offer from a Chinese outfit.
With the highly-rated 20-year-old attacking midfielder Giovani Lo Celso set to join PSG in January from Rosario Central, the future does seem bleak for Javier Pastore.
If Pastore can stay injury-free and maintain consistency, he has shown previously how good he can be. At the age 27, he is about to enter his peak years. Antonio Conte believes Javier can play a crucial role at Chelsea, and it’s easy to see why for anyone who has seen his progress since his Palermo days.
